Chuck Brings The Suck.

Chucks are Cool. Inexpensive and Iconic. What is not cool is this new campaign for Converse/John Varvatos clothing. If you haven't clicked the images, please do so now. Up top, you'll notice smirking pretty boy not quite covering up his "Civil Disobedience" button. Subtle. On the bottom, we have a soulless "Rebel" rocker. Why not just write "No sole to sell" in the TV dust and hit up pun-master Kenneth Cole for co-op dollars?

1. As opposed to, what? Trade pelts for them?
2. CONS® and Cons.

I think they are stuck in a time machine. So 80s. I am glad they didn't do the soul/sole pun though.

Speaking of stuck in a time machine, that pretty boy at the top is one hand-comb away from Gotti Brothers hair.

“You don’t know me man. I saw The Ramones before Joey died. Or was it Dee Dee. Anyway, I was there. Rock on.”

I smell Green Day. The manufactured rebellion of the suburbs, where Mom wouldn't spring for Cinemax and Dad only let them borrow the Bimmer on Saturdays.

Civil Disobedience? Against WHAT?

Correction Copyranter: Chucks WERE cool - and I had my eyes set on the Operation Iraqi Freedom Desert Commando model. Might have to go with PF Flyers. It's sort of the Harley vs. Indian thing now. What was cool has become cliche. Trendsetting is such a risky business.

And who is this John Varvatos besmirching the good name of Chuck Taylor anyway?

I'm surprised Chucks bother to advertise.

They're cool and have always been cool. Hipsters be damned.

PBR is also cool and has always been so. Hipsters be damned.

Damn kids. They take my favorite things. Destroy them. Give them back. Let them be reborn. Take them again. Destroy them again. Give them back.

I age.

Time passes.
