I LOVE SWEDISH FISH! These ads? Eh...

(click ads for closer look)
I don't care what kinds of carcinogens reside inside each little chemically-made piece of aquatic candy, I Can't Resist Swedish Fish (™®© copyranter 2008). No, I never buy them myself; but if a co-worker brings some in, or a media company sends us a swag container of 'em, I usually devour more than a couple. The combo fruit/chemical flavors are irresistible!
As for these ads (3 more in the campaign, via JWT NY, here), well, I like that they're wacky and I like that they're easy on my design eyes and I even kinda like the tagline but, for some reason, it just doesn't add up to me loving them. What do you think? previous candy ads: excellent Snickers Halloween ad; M&Ms for business—hard to swallow; the Butterfinger finger campaign; Altoids—Brown Sugar.

"A friend you can eat?" So what? I've had friends like that before; the only difference is that usually I have to find them on craigslist.

(Sorry if this is a double post.)

I like it. But, I'd think twice about injecting a Swedish lesson into an ad.

I dig these ads. Although, Spencer is right... the tagline *does* bring to mind friend-with-benefits encounters. I assume this was not intentional.

I like 'em... they're funny. Wacky, Swedish funny. Like IKEA.

But my first thought was the same as Spencer's. Friends I can eat? Got those. Wouldn't really want to, mind.

I covered that on Gawker——best candy TV spot EVERRRRRRRRRRR... (the "Touch" one, not "Pinata")

I clearly need stronger glasses. I read "A friend you can ear."

But now that I'm married, I wish I had more edible friends. Only sometimes.

I thought these were serving suggestions. Now I have no cat, and no Swedish fish either.

I don't know why, but I've never liked Swedish Fish. Everyone else seems to orgasm over them, but I think they just taste... like nothing, really. I'm a gummi bear diehard, I guess. Yummy bears... and the little fruit ones are tasty, too. *LOL*
