Levi's quickly puts their jeans on Ted Kennedy's dead legs.

(click ad) Go Err-ahh Forth. Oh, c'mon. It's not that bad of an ad vulture execution, is it? Democrats and jeans are both blue, right? And what the hell: JFK's still selling wicked-expensive yachts. Thanks to Gareth Hornberger for the scan of the ad, which ran full-page in yesterday's New York Times.

“It's better to send in the Peace Corps than the Marine Corps.”

Wouldn't that have been a more appropriate quote to use?

The underlying message?
They would all be wearing Levis of course.

We have a strong cult[ure] of personality in this country. Figures we've made larger-than-life with our outsized worship (fueled by media) get appropriated by the selling media for any purpose they like, since they control pretty much everything in our "culture" now...it's all okay, people accept it, and don't see any inappropriateness. Yikes. We're sick.

Jeff——and there's no sarcasm here——it's simply a matter of opinion.

"I feel it's more a memorial to Kennedy's legacy than anything else."

It has nothing to do with "legacy" except as exploiting same -- by a conservative pro-status quo corporation -- for cash, cash, and more cash. And, hopefully, in addition, still more cash.

Welcome to necrophilia as marketing.

Copyranter, I don't know how you feel about 'links' to other sites, BUT take a look at this other extreme form of, in my opinion, partisan exploitation:

Ted Kennedy Still a Major Player in Health Care Reform

I wonder if they had that ad ready to go so they could run with it as soon as he... um... passed, but while Kennedy fever was still high.

I'm guessing they probably did. I mean, all the media outlets had obits ready to go, right?
