Another Cannes scam ad scandal surfaces.

(click ads) As stated in my original post about these horribly sexist ads for Coopers Premium Light Lager by JWT in Singapore, the campaign won a Bronze medal at the 2008 Cannes festival. Now, for some reason, the ads have resurfaced this past week on a few sites including The-F-Word and Contexts. This apparently finally brought them to the attention of Coopers, because a rep from the company claims the ads were never commissioned by Coopers, and left this comment on the first post. No Frank, I'm not taking them down. Your beef is with the ad agency and Cannes.

I think Frank has a point.

Franks arguments about font use and that bottle are convincing, I'll admit - but it would be great to hear from anyone at Coopers _in Singapore_ though.

Those ads did not run anywhere...they were probably shown to some singaporean beer importer (a trading company, and they dont care about brand values etc) and hung up as posters in their offices and maybe a bar or two.

The guy who did those crap ads is Andrew McKechnie and his book is full of scam like that.....in fact Lance Jensen and Gary Koepke liked his book so much they hired him at Modernista Boston.
